World of Mines is a classic PC game with a unique twist - a World Map theme. Drawing inspiration from the original game that has been popular across various computing platforms since the 1960s, this game offers a nostalgic gaming experience.

Developed by Team Cogoo as part of their initiative to promote the 2025 Completion Challenge and raise awareness in the community, World of Mines is a small and humble campaign with a larger goal. By playing this game, you can contribute to building a world free of land mines and supporting the rights of landmine victims, regardless of the amount of time you have to spare.

The use of landmines remains a contentious issue due to their indiscriminate nature as weapons. Even long after conflicts have ended, they continue to pose a threat to civilians and hinder economic growth. Shockingly, 78 countries are still affected by landmines, resulting in over 15,000 fatalities annually. Sadly, approximately 80% of these casualties are innocent civilians, with children being the most vulnerable group. These tragedies often occur during times of peace.

If you enjoy classic games like chess, checkers, backgammon, solitaire, freecell, as well as puzzle games such as sudoku, tetris, and crossword puzzles, World of Mines is the perfect game for you!

Gameplay Features:

  • Save the world by uncovering hidden landmines
  • Easy-to-use controls
  • Pinch-to-zoom functionality for better visibility
  • Boasts the smoothest and fastest interface among all Mines games
  • First tap luck - your first move may decide your fate
  • Flag Mode: Quickly mark tiles you suspect contain bombs
  • 177 countries to explore, providing hours of entertainment (the countries and bomb quantities are unrelated)
  • A variety of map sizes and shapes for added challenge and replayability

How to Play:

The objective of the game is to clear a country map that contains hidden "mines" or bombs, without detonating any of them. Each tile on the grid provides clues regarding the number of neighboring mines. To begin, the player selects a specific country by touching it on the world map. The game progresses as the player reveals squares on the grid by touching each square. If a square with a mine is revealed, the game is lost. However, if no mines are revealed, a digit appears in the square, indicating how many adjacent squares contain mines. If there are no mines nearby, the square becomes blank and all adjacent squares are automatically revealed. Players must use this information to deduce the contents of other squares and either safely uncover them or flag them as containing mines.
